Hello my dear sacrifices,
Quick emergency letter to let you know that today is the last Bandcamp Friday of 2020. While I expect they will continue the promotion for as long as COVID-19 continues to derail the careers of touring artists, there is a small chance that this is the last one for some time.
If you don’t know what Bandcamp Friday is, it’s a promotion that Bandcamp puts on during the first Friday of each month. On these days, Bandcamp waives their fee (they take a small portion of each sale on the site to cover hosting and other operational expenses) so that artists collect 100% of the revenue from any merchandise or music sales.
Thanks to these monthly events my wallet is very mad at me, but it feels good to support artists during a time when streaming companies are literally stealing money from artists and most small artists find themselves without a job or a source of steady income.
So head on over to Bandcamp by clicking the button below and support your favorite artists. If you’re at a loss for what to buy, may I suggest checking out the Apotheosis archive to see what music we’ve been loving these past few months.
If you have friends who love music and don’t know about Bandcamp Friday and what the platform has done to help artists, share this post with them by clicking the button below. For people who love music, I can think of no better way to express that enthusiasm than by directly supporting the artists that improve our lives every day with their work.
Cheers. Enjoy the virtual crate digging.
